Amigo and Amor Orphan Programs

As we strive to care for the orphans and widows of Mozambique we desire to both set an example for others and then empower them to continue on in this ministry. Currently we have two seperate orphan programs reaching approximately 800 orphans throughout Mozambique. Many of these orphans we are only able to assist on an extremely limited basis. We hope you will commit to partnering with us as we further develop these ministries.

AMIGO ORPHAN PROGRAM

Our Amigo orphan sponsorship enables a donor to be matched with one of the needy orphans in our immediate area. These orphans usually live with a widowed grandmother, who does not have the ability to support herself and dependent grandchildren. Sponsorship means these children receive food each month, as well as ensuring they receive an education. Donors receive a photo of the orphan they are sponsoring, a profile as well as updates.

AMOR ORPHAN PROGRAM

One of the foundations of our ministry is training and equipping churches and pastors to better understand and serve God. The Biblical training that they receive includes teaching them to care for the needy, and the orphans and widows of their communities. Many of these pastors, taking to heart all they have learned, have since created orphan outreach programs with their churches in their communities. When we first challenged these pastors to begin orphan programs we tried to commit to matching everything they raised dollar for dollar. The response was so great, we now can only match as little as 10% of what these pastors have raised. We are looking for churches, or individuals who would commit to sponsoring a local pastor and his church on a monthly basis. This support would go both to furthering the pastors training through our Bible school as well as to provide much needed resources, supplies, food, and emergency aid to these pastors and the orphans they care for. Sponsors recieve yearly updates on the program they are involved with as well as the pastor leading the program.

Although we have not been able to match the the donations of the local churches as we had hoped (they are just raising so much themselves that we dont have the resources to match it anymore!), thanks to generous donors we were recently able to deliver hope in the form of food, blankets, clothes and other supplies to a church orphan group north of us. Thru this years Unique Christmas Gifts donations, we were able to purchase 21 personalized gift packs for orphan families in Honde. Pastor Paulo has a heart to help the orphans in his community and we were excited to help the 39 children who he attempts to help with only one meal a week, a Bible lesson, some singing and games. The smiles on their faces was amazing.

Pastor Paulo now desires to create an orphanage on a 200m square piece of land he has found near the river. There will be access to water, as well as electricity in the future. We pray that his dream of creating a place for the homeless children in his area will become a reality. It is awesome to see what God is doing in the lives of the Pastors who we have been trying to empower. God is awesome.
